I drew them all with their pets too, but according to the wiki T.N. Plus I did most of the lineless patterns after I finished colouring, idk if it was better than doing it before I shaded but my thought process was, the pattern wouldn't smudge or anything. I figured out a better way to shade with markers: Do the whole area with the highlight colour first, then do the base colour, then the shading. Turned out better than I expected honestly After having the lineart done for months, I finally picked this back up and finished it.
